Passing Out Parade
PO PO P! P O P O P O P!
hohohohoh!!! i've finally POP! fuck yeah. after all these agonizing 2 months which felt like forever. i've at last pass out last friday. for those noobies wondering whats POP, it's Passing Out Parade where boys become men, and recruits become privates.
the days before our POP was the toughest of all. because we just complete our 24km road march on wednesday night which ends on thursday morning. straight away after lunch, we had to do our POP rehearsal without even having sufficient rest after our road march, most of us walks like we had huge **** because the abrasions were so serious that it ends up all over our legs. sad to say, even my balls got abrasions, it's like what the fuck. it was a tough day.
just when we thought hell was over, we were wrong. on the morning of our POP our battlion had a mini arms and skills game. it was FUCK UP. the reason for the game was to select the companies' best platoon and battlion's best platoon. my platoon, 12 was split among 9, 10 and 11 because of the shortage of numbers. i end up in platoon 10.
the first station of the game was suppose to be a fast/route march of 2.5km with Full Battle Order (which weighs 10+kg) but because of the competition, every companies run/jog instead throughout the 2.5km. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? i was barely alive throughout the run, my legs was almost half-dead. no recruits in singapore has ever done running with FBO.
after we complete the march and drop our FBO, before we can even catch our breath, the second station begins where we had to sprint 200m to strip/assemble our SAR21. next station, running to a soccer field 400m away where we did our fire movement, leopard crawl, back crawl and throw a grenade where it MUST land within a target board's range. we didn't, so we had to do 2 times! i swear it was worse than our route march. we then had to proceed to our Standard Obstacle Course ground where we to carry 2 stretcher each with 2 jelly cans ontop (weights around 40kg) and complete our SOC (missing 3 stations).
we had to then run the last stretch to the finishing line. and i tell you, i've never been so HAPPY in my entire life after i cross the finishing line. finally there was light up ahead. after the game, we had a short rest before our last POP rehearsal.
the actual POP started at 4pm where most of our family/friends were there. for me, only my mom and young cousin went to attend. POP wasn't easy too, because all of us had to stand for almost an hour thanks to the prize giving and stuffs.
the most memorable would be, first of all, when our family/friends are allowed to come to us to put on our jockey cap. second, when we threw our caps up the sky with the machine guns firing in the background. army life has never been so fun.
with that, marks the end of my POP. when i come back from my 7 days block leave, i'm most probably going to be a tankie (either a tank gunner or driver) IF i pass the psycho motor test. and sadly, there would be no more platoon 12 since most are gonna be posted to Armour Infantry and etc. i'll be separating from most of my section mates as well which i will miss most.
I LOVE PLATOON 12!!!
I LOVE SECTION 1!!
below are some lame photos we took in our bunk.
